SUMMER 2024 UPDATE

News from the Catholic Youth Camp Board

Dear Treasured CYC Community,

We are writing to share an update on Catholic Youth Camp since we last connected during our end-of-year campaign. Thanks to our incredible community, our end-of-year campaign was a successful one, enabling us to pay critical bills through this most challenging part of the off-season. We thank God for the care and support shown by so many of you in this challenging time.

We are writing with two updates today on CYC’s future.

First, we are thrilled to report that we have made an offer to a new Executive Director for CYC. We feel fortunate to have crossed paths with this incredible candidate and while we are still finalizing some employment details, we are hopeful that we will be able to formally announce CYC’s new leadership in the coming months.

Secondly, we have made the difficult decision not to run a traditional CYC program in Summer 2024. We realize this is disappointing news – we are devastated not to be able to welcome you as usual to Big Sandy this summer; however, we are confident this is the best decision for CYC in the long term. Taking a “strategic pause” this summer will allow our new Executive Director to onboard and work with the Board of Directors to build a fundraising and strategic plan with the objective of re-launching CYC in Summer 2025 better positioned to sustain our important work and mission well into the future. We are confident and committed that CYC will continue to serve Minnesota families for many years to come, and we believe this pause is the best strategy in pursuing that goal.

Though we will not be running camp as usual this summer, we do hope there will be opportunities to welcome you to CYC this summer for other programming, such as project sessions, family camp opportunities, etc. We will be sharing more information about these opportunities throughout the spring, and we very much hope you’re able to participate.

We are so thankful for your support, prayers, calls, donations, and offers to help during this difficult time. CYC’s community is truly our most powerful asset, and we look forward to continuing to partner together through this time and for many years to come. Please do reach out anytime with questions, ideas, or just to connect at office@cycamp.org.

In Christ,

The Catholic Youth Camp Board of Directors

"I love how every night we do devotions. And Sunset beach is the best place to hang out, and our cabins are very awesome too!!! Sweeney is very fun. We always have the dance party there, which is my favorite thing. They always have fun activities and we always like doing them." - Isabel
