Catholic Youth Camp (“CYC,” “we,” “us”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that runs a Catholic summer camp on Big Sandy Lake near McGregor, Minnesota. This policy explains what information we collect through cycamp.org, how we use it and the choices you have.
The short version
- We don’t sell, rent or trade personal information – including donor information.
- This website has no advertising or analytics trackers.
- Camp registration, health forms and online donations are handled by CampInTouch, our secure camp-management service, not by this website.

Registration, health forms and donations
When you register a camper, complete health forms or give online, you use forms hosted by CampInTouch (cyc.campintouch.com) on CYC’s behalf. We use that information to run camp: to place and care for campers, contact families, process payments and gifts, and send receipts. CampInTouch handles it under its own privacy policy and security practices. Card numbers are never stored on this website.
Health information about a camper is shared only with the staff who need it to care for your child, such as our healthcare staff and camp director, and with medical providers in an emergency. Financial aid information is kept confidential and used only to decide aid.
Information this website collects
When you contact us
The contact form sends your name, email address, phone number (if you give it) and message to the CYC office by email. The website doesn’t store form submissions; we keep your message in our office email (Google Workspace) for as long as we need it to help you and for our records.
To keep out spam, the form runs a quick automated check from Cloudflare Turnstile. It loads only on our Contact page and sends Cloudflare your IP address and basic browser details so it can tell people from bots. Cloudflare uses this only to block bots and improve the check – not to identify, profile or advertise to you – as its Turnstile Privacy Addendum explains.
Email and text messages
If you join our email list, we use your address to send camp news, registration updates and occasional fundraising appeals. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor requests promptly. If you agree to receive text messages from us, reply STOP at any time to opt out.
Information collected automatically
Like all websites, ours is served by a hosting company (Kinsta) that keeps server logs of IP addresses, browser types, pages requested and times. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting and are kept for a limited time. When someone visits a page that doesn’t exist, the site records the missing address (not the visitor’s IP address) for 7 days so we can fix broken links.
CYC staff and volunteers who sign in to manage the website use two-factor sign-in, and their sign-ins and changes are kept in an activity log for 60 days.
Cookies
This website doesn’t use advertising or analytics cookies. WordPress sets cookies only for people who sign in to manage the site. Our fonts are hosted on our own server, so loading a page doesn’t contact Google Fonts.
Videos, maps and social media
- Videos on our site show a still photo until you press play. Only then does YouTube load, in its privacy-enhanced mode, and Google’s Privacy Policy applies.
- The maps on our Contact and Directions pages are loaded from Google Maps, which receives your IP address and may set cookies.
- Links to Facebook, Instagram and YouTube take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.
Apart from Google when you view a map or play a video, and Cloudflare’s spam check on the contact form, no third party collects information about your activity on our website.
How we share information
We share personal information only:
- with service providers that help us run camp and this website – such as CampInTouch (registration, forms and payments), Google Workspace (email), Kinsta (hosting) and Cloudflare (the contact form’s spam check) – who may use it only to provide their services to us;
- when the law requires it, or to protect the safety of campers, staff or others; and
- with your permission.
We don’t sell personal information, share it for targeted advertising or use it to profile people.
Donor privacy
- We never sell, rent, trade or share donor names or contact details with other organizations.
- We use your information to process and thank you for your gift, send tax receipts and keep you informed about CYC. Tell us if you’d like fewer mailings, or none.
- We never use your name in fundraising materials without your written permission. If we thank donors by name, for example in an annual report, you can ask to be listed as anonymous.
- We follow the principles of the Donor Bill of Rights.
Children’s privacy
This website is meant for parents, guardians, staff and supporters. It isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children through it. Information about campers comes from a parent or guardian through registration. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email office@cycamp.org and we’ll delete it.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as tax, accounting, legal or camper-safety rules require – gift records and camper health and incident records, for example, may need to be kept for several years. Website logs are deleted automatically, as described above.
How we protect information
The website uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections and managed hosting, and the people who manage it use two-factor sign-in. No system is perfectly secure; if a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as Minnesota law requires.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it, unless we must keep it (for example, for tax or camper-safety records);
- stop sending you email, text messages or mail; and
- tell you which organizations we’ve shared it with.
Email office@cycamp.org or call (651) 636-1645. We may need to confirm your identity, we’ll respond within 45 days, and we won’t treat you differently for asking. If you disagree with our answer, reply and ask us to reconsider; we’ll respond within 45 days. You can also contact the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We don’t sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We treat Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals as a request not to do so.
Changes to this policy
We’ll post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If we make a significant change, we’ll also note it on our home page.
