Wednesday of Fun With Food

Another gorgeous perfect day at camp!! We are having so much fun at CYC!!

Breakfast was delicious- oatmeal and yogurt with granola! The ‘C’ of the day was Christ. And the sun was shining as we began our first cabin activities of the day. Wednesdays at CYC means two of our favorite things…

First up was the mud pit. Cabins competed in tug-o-war over our giant sloppy mud pit. But the real fun comes afterwards when each cabin has the chance to jump in the mud pit and get COVERED in ooey gooey messy mud. Some campers went in just a little bit and some slid in head first! Almost everyone ended up with some mud on them. Once everyone was good and messy we all headed down to the beach to wash off.

Lunch was fish sticks and mac and cheese veggies and fruit rest time and then it was time for afternoon activities. The campfire cooking group made bacon ranch potatos over the fire the canoe group had to deal with some wind so they ended up building boats on land rather than fighting the waves arts and crafts worked on string bowls fishing was perfecting their casting and dance and drama continued working on their acts for the talent show. Whew! A lot of activity!

At 3:00 it was time for weekly mass. Our jam band is especially awesome this year and our campers love to sing which makes chapel an energizing and excellent part of the day. The ‘C’ of the day was Christ so it was a nice opportunity to take a break from the sunshine and crazy silly camp fun to remember what makes CYC such a special place. There are lots of camps out there but our community is rooted in faith and when campers come together for fun and friendship with faith at the center of all of it it makes for a place that has been exceptional for 68 years! Father Timothy came from Grand Rapids to celebrate with us and then stayed after mass to play (and win) at gaga!

Dinner was hot turkey sandwiches and mashed potatoes and lemon bars! After dinner campers had another choice time and got to go to practice their balance on the slacklines (kind of like tightropes- about 2 feet off the ground) play group games in the field and work on some craft projects.

Tonight was the night everyone was waiting for- the dance party! The disco ball was shining the music was blasting and the campers and staff were dancing their hearts out! Everyone had an amazing time and the only bad thing from the day was when the party ended and we had to start getting ready for bed!

Luckily we have another great day ahead of us tomorrow!
