Wednesday Night Fun with Food

Noodle Creations

This morning after our individual and cabin activities campers all gathered around Program Director Shayla and learned about the morning activity: noodle creations with their cabins. Each cabin was given a bag of marshmellows and a box of spaghetti noodles. Prizes where given at the end of the hour to those cabins who had created the most unique sculptures the most beautiful and the tallest.

The groups were incredibly creative. Several created small versions of the camp dogs (rolling their Griffin sculptures in dirt to make them more believable). The awards were given and spirit points distributed at the end of the program time.

C.H.A.O.S.

After noodle creations the campers gathered around the flagpole to participate in one of our favorite activities here at CYC: CHAOS!

Now CHAOS is not quite what it sounds like (if what it sounds like is some sort of hodgepodge free time where everyone is turned loose to rely on their own devices. Absolutely not!) Actually the title itself CHAOS is an acronym that stands for Counselors Have Another Outstanding Skill and the activity gives the campers the option of learning an interesting game or skill or craft from one of our fabulously talented staff members.

Some campers followed Brittany from the flagpole to the art barn where they used a few random materials to try and come up with a machine that would pop a water balloon placed on the other side of the room; others followed Henry to the break area to learn how to fence and still others followed Becca or Michelle to learn swing dancing and an Irish football field (the latter is like football here only you can dribble and make forward motion).

Just after CHAOS we have lunch and then rest time (which was much needed after such a fun-filled morning!).

Dance party

Now the campers are back in their cabins after the weekly (and much anticipated) dance party. Everyone participated their favorite dances and the new disco ball was much was enthusiasm (it was donated in memory of Justin a counselor from last year).

It’s hard to believe that it’s already this late in the week. Soon campers will be packing up and heading out — but not quite yet. We still have plenty planned for them during their last full day of camp tomorrow. The capture the flag a campfire cookout and the talent show are still upcoming — and the excitement for these activities is in the air.

Check back tomorrow for the final blog entry of the week!
