Wednesday of Mad Scientist Week
What a crazy (but super fun) day at CYC! We are having so much fun this week! It was chillier outside, but that didn’t stop us from having a blast and doing all of our planned activities.
Breakfast was delicious – french toast sticks and sausage! The ‘C’ of the day was Christ. When we started the day in chapel, we learned about how we are called to live in Christ’s love and to share it every day. Our first activity was a race to discover the secret anecdote in order to cure the counselors’ symptoms of the mysterious explosion yesterday! Campers ran around camp in their cabin groups looking for clues and the special ingredients. The fog over the lake complimented the mystery of it all. When the ingredients had all been found, they had fun making Fuzzy Cloud Dough and playing with it.
After morning activities, it was time for us to come together for a Communion Service in which we reflected on the gospel, prayed, and received the Holy Eucharist. We are not just a community that PLAYS together, we are a community that PRAYS together. With the ‘C’ of the day being Christ, it was a nice opportunity to take a break from the crazy silly camp fun to remember what makes CYC such a special place. There are lots of camps out there but our community is rooted in faith and when campers come together for fun and friendship with faith at the center of everything, it makes for a place that has been exceptional for 70 years! After the special Communion Service, we headed over to the mud pit and played some friendly tug of war before jumping in!
Lunch was quesadillas, salad bar, and fruit. And then it was time for some rest time and afternoon activities. Campers swam, practiced their drama, danced, played sports, and more.
Dinner was cheeseburgers, fries, salad bar, and fruit. Some counselors and campers got us warmed up for the dance party by dancing in the dining hall to “Let it Go”. After eating a delicious meal we enjoyed prime time.
And now, it’s the night everyone is always waiting for- the dance party! The disco ball is shining, the music will be blasting and the campers and staff will be dancing their hearts out! We still have plenty of energy to burn, so this dance party is needed!
Luckily we have another great day ahead of us tomorrow!
