Tuesday of Teen Takeover Week: Color Wars

Today was such a great day!

We began the day with optional morning activities including running, coffee and conversation, yoga, and fishing. Then some brave souls took the polar bear plunge and after that it was time for breakfast (pancake on a stick with and sausage).  Morning chapel was next (charity was the ‘C’ of the day) and then field games, or challenges between the blue and red teams took place. Each team had to compete to accomplish certain tasks first. Some of these tasks included doing jumping jacks, making a bed in the middle of the field and putting their counselor to sleep in it, retrieve a conoe, and these tasks and others were topped off with the grand finale of racing to the boating bay, getting into life jackets, and paddling their canoe from the boating bay to Sunset Beach! It was a ton of fun! Then campers did cabin activities, including canoeing, playing sports, working on arts and crafts, fishing, and swimming. The weather was perfect all day- not a cloud in the sky which made for a perfect day at camp!

Lunch was grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup, fruit, salad bar and then it was off to our cabins for some rest time.

This afternoon was a gorgeous, sunny and a perfect day for being at camp! Canoers were out and about and drama was getting their act ready for the talent show. Archery was aiming, paddle boarders were paddling, and swimmers were swimming! It was a busy day! Right before dinner, we had another all camp competition: a counselor hunt! Counselors hid in various location around camp, and the first team to find and retrieve all the counselors from the opposite color team won!

Dinner was beef tacos, fruit, and salad bar. But the fun wasn’t over yet! After beach party, it was time to head to the Friendship Circle for a campfire! We sang tons of songs each cabin performed their cabin cheer and then we made some yummy s’mores! You can find a photo of your camper with their s’more on the photo website that’s updated daily. There were some counselor skits and lots of fun!

After that it was time to raise the roof in praise and worship- singing so loud you could probably hear us across the lake!

"CYC is a great place to have fun, make friends, and share your faith. At camp, you can make a new friend almost anywhere like during activities, around the campfire, or in your cabin. If you get homesick, you’ll have nice friends and understanding counselors to help you out. You won’t need to worry about it too much because you’ll be having fun all day. No matter where you are, fishing, swimming, or playing soccer, you’ll be having a great time. CYC rocks!" - Joe
