Tuesday of Teen Takeover

Today was absolutely perfect weather- ideal for a fun day of camp! We began the day with run club yoga and coffee/conversation followed by polar bear plunge. Then it was time for breakfast (scrambled eggs and bacon).  Morning chapel was next(charity was the ‘C’ of the day) and then two hours of cabin activities. Cabins were canoeing playing sports working on arts and crafts as well as fishing preparing for the talent show and shooting archery.

The morning all camp activity was a very cool challenge that had our campers thinking strategically. Campers had to step from tile to tile following a specific pattern to cross from one side to the other. If they made a wrong step they were out. The pattern got more and more difficult but our campers are critical thinkers and were ready for each round as it got more difficult. Campers were competitive determined to use their wits to get them through but they were also cheering each other on!

Lunch was italian dunkers and chicken caesar salad and then we headed to a much needed rest time!

This afternoon was gorgeous sunny and a perfect day for being at camp! The art group was busy making nail art (hammering nails into a board into a design and then wrapping sting to make intricate designs) campfire cooking was making donuts over the fire (cinnamon sugary goodness!) and drama was getting their act ready for the talent show. It was a perfect day for canoeing- there wasn’t a bit of wind and the lake was like glass and the fishing groups were reeling them in like crazy! And the archers were shooting bullseyes.

Dinner was hamburgers and french fries!

Cabin free time after dinner gave cabins a chance to perfect their talent show acts skip rocks at the beach make some craft projects play soccer and relax after a long day. After that it was time to raise the roof in praise and worship- singing so loud you could probably hear us across the lake!

Our spirit was so great and our voices were warmed up so it made sense to head down to the Friendship Circle for a campfire! We sang tons of songs each cabin performed their cabin cheer we did the traditional CYC cheer and then we made some yummy s’mores!

But wait it’s teen week so of course there’s more! After the campfire it was time for an ice cream social. Luckily at camp it’s ok to have s’mores and root beer floats all in one night! Everyone hung out chatted ate ice cream and had a super relaxing end to a perfect (and busy!) day of camp!
