Sunday- Outta This World!

Outta this world week has begun! We welcomed our latest (and last of the summer) group of campers this afternoon. The sun was shining and we are all ready for a week of fun and adventure.

On Sundays campers meet all of the staff and the camp dogs and then divide into cabin groups. Groups spend time playing "get to know ya" and name games move into cabins and then tour camp learning about all of the cool activities they will do in the week ahead. After dinner (one of our camp favorites- pizza!) campers continue the tour until it’s time to lower the flag and move into the evening with Praise and Worship.

Catholic Youth Camp is not only a camp that PLAYS together we also PRAY together. We have 5 C’s which are the values that staff and campers use throughout the week- community courage charity cooperation and Christ. Each night in Praise and Worship we will discuss a value and how it applies to our lives. Also during P&W we will sing songs say the CYC prayer and share our faith.

After P&W campers headed over to the Friendship Circle for our opening campfire. During the campfire Director Natalie talked more about the 5 C’s how we can make the week great through including everyone accepting everyone for who they are by trying new things and having a positive attitude. We learned about the history of CYC (64 years and still going strong!) the activity highlights for the week ahead and then campers got to sign up for 3 individual activities. Campers choose between throwing (archery sligshot throwing tomahawks) boating (canoes and kayaks) arts and crafts fishing dance drama sports and swimming. Tomorrow we will begin these as well as theme activities and all camp events.

Outta This World week is off to a strong start! Check out the photo site later to see all of the cool things we are busy doing!
