Sunday-Monday- Olympic Week!!

It’s Olympic Week at CYC!!!

On Sunday campers arrived excited and filled with camp (and Olympic) spirit! Sunday was a busy afternoon of  moving into cabins playing “get to know you” games learning about and touring camp and getting excited for the week ahead. Cabins created team cheers and got excited about competing for the cabin spirit award.

After dinner campers headed to Praise and Worship and then to the opening campfire. A great first day of camp!

Monday has been busy and fun! Yesterday cabins signed up for cabin activities (archery art canoeing orienteering fort building fishing swimming etc.) and this morning they were busy having fun doing those activities.

The second hour of the day was devoted to a MASSIVE scavenger hunt around camp (J3 completed it first earning some spirit points for their team) followed by camp store break time and then on to individual activities. Campers sign up for 3 activities to specialize in during the week and then do each of those activities every day. Swimmers were swimming fishers fishing dancers dancing and so on!

After individual activities cabins worked on their team spirit creating team flags. At the same time they also got to tie dye tee shirts.

A delicious dinner another great evening of praise and worship and then it was time for Angles and Demons! Angels and Demons is a CYC FAVORITE! Angels are stationed around the woods and campers must run to each one get a signature and then run back to put the paper in their team bucket. Whichever team has the most points wins! However there are some scary demons lurking in the forest (don’t worry it’s just the counselors!). If they tag you you have to give up your paper and start over. So campers must be clever quick and run fast! It is intense and very fun!

We are having a blast with fun enthusiastic campers! Be sure to check out the photos to see all of our adventures firsthand!

"To me Catholic Youth Camp is a place I can be myself and know others will not judge me. Plus it is a place where I can learn more about my religion and proclaim it to the world freely." - JP
