Day Six Friday of Splish Splash Week

Headin’ home…

Fridays always feel a little bit different here at Catholic Youth Camp. For one thing things start later (an extra hour in the morning gives campers time to pack or if they are clever and pack the night before a few extra minutes of sleep) but then there’s the suitcases lined up on the field that signify the end of camp is nigh. There’s also the fact that we’re all matching in the tie-dye shirts we made on Monday (a camp tradition for many years) and the altered schedule.

Overall things just feel different around here when campers are going home. Of course we’re excited for the weekend of course the campers can’t wait to get home and catch up with family; but we come so far in just the week that each group is here. There really is some sadness in seeing each group go. Of course there’s always the promise of next year (and for staff next week) when we get to do it all over again!

"To me Catholic Youth Camp is a place I can be myself and know others will not judge me. Plus it is a place where I can learn more about my religion and proclaim it to the world freely." - JP
