Sunday of Harry Potter Week

Harry Potter week has begun!

Campers arrived in cars and the bus unloading their luggage onto Platform 9 3/4 (McGregor location not the train station in England). Once everyone had arrived the CYC sorting hat magically sung a poem and then announced which "house" (ie- cabin) that each camper was in.

Campers and counselors have been busy touring camp playing "get to know ya" games learning about all of the cool activities that are planned for the week ahead and already the spirit of camp is filling CYC with the sounds of excitement and cheering.

Dinner was Gloria’s famous pizza watermelon and sherbet- YUM! After dinner and more camp tour campers headed to the flag pole for the end of the day song. Praise and worship is a time for prayer reflection and lots of singing! One Sunday nights campers learn about the CYC 5 C’s- courage charity community cooperation and Christ. The 5 C’s help us know how to behave and treat one another during the week of camp.

Tonight is the MAGICAL opening campfire. This was no ordinary fire- the flames were crazy colors and very magical. Check out the photos from the week at http://www.ultracamp.com/gallery/photogallery.aspx?idCamp=257&campCode=cyc to see pictures of the fun! During the fire Camp Director Natalie talked about the week ahead and Program Director Shayla described the fun activities that campers get to choose from to sign up to do throughout the week. There was singing laughter and everyone was very excited for the week!

We’re already having a blast and the week has just begun!

"CYC is a great place to have fun, make friends, and share your faith. At camp, you can make a new friend almost anywhere like during activities, around the campfire, or in your cabin. If you get homesick, you’ll have nice friends and understanding counselors to help you out. You won’t need to worry about it too much because you’ll be having fun all day. No matter where you are, fishing, swimming, or playing soccer, you’ll be having a great time. CYC rocks!" - Joe
