Wednesday of CYC’s Favorite Things

Happy Fourth of July from CYC! What an awesome day to be at camp!!

Breakfast was delicious – sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches! We had some rain during breakfast, so we started our morning with chapel in the dining hall basement. And lucky for us, by the time that was over, so was the rain. And then it was just hot, sunny and fabulous all day! We had 2 hours of cabin activities. The boys in J2 played dodgeball with sponges, the ladies in G2 wrote affirmation notes to everyone and helped decorate the dining hall. There was soccer, arts and crafts, paddleboating and more!

Wednesday means MUD PIT! cabins competed in tug-o-war and afterwards, each camper could jump into the HUGE mud pit and get COVERED! Once everyone was muddy, we headed to the beach to wash off!

Lunch was mini corn dogs, mac and cheese, fruit, and salad bar. And then it was time for some rest time and afternoon activities. The weather was hot and sunny and a perfect summer day! All of the activities were busy- drama was practicing for the talent show, sports was playing basketball, there was archery, arts and crafts (working on paper mache), swimming and more!

Dinner was hamburgers, with ice cream for dessert. Yum!

Now we have Prime Time (the camp store is open, gaga ball, carpet ball, games, and relaxing), then it’s the night everyone is always waiting for- the dance party! The disco ball is shining, the music will be blasting and the campers and staff will be dancing their hearts out! We still have plenty of energy to burn, so this dance party is needed!

But wait, there’s even more to come later tonight. Because it’s the 4th of July! McGregor is a small town, but don’t let that fool you, because the firework show on Big Sandy is one of the best! After dance party, chapel and showers, once it’s dark outside, we’ll head back to sunset beach to watch the display! We’ve got popcorn ready for everyone to munch on and we’re excited to celebrate. We’re staying up a bit later than usual, so tomorrow, breakfast is going to be at 9am so everyone can sleep in! We hope you’re celebrating as much as we are!!

"What camp means to me is learning about God, making friends and having fun. But the most important thing is being yourself. We have lots of fun at camp. The counselors are great, the friends are nice, the themes are awesome, and the games rule! When I grow too old to come to camp I want to be a camp counselor, but for now, I will enjoy the fun at camp. See you this year!" - Josh
