Tuesday of Fun With Food

Today was such a great day! We began the day with polar bear plunge and then it was time for breakfast (scrambled eggs and bacon).  Morning chapel was next(charity was the ‘C’ of the day) and then two hours of cabin activities. It was raining during breakfast but by the time chapel was over the rain had cleared and we were ready for activities! Cabins were canoeing playing sports working on arts and crafts as well as cooking popcorn in tin cans over the fire.

The morning all camp activity was food relays- cabins competed in a variety of different relays- carrying popcorn in tiny cups on their feet marshmallows in spoons in their mouths and many more. Even better than the fun competition was the cheering! At CYC the Cabin Spirit Award is handed out at the end of the week to the cabin that uses the 5 Cs has good sportsmanship cheers for each other (and other teams) and has overall great spirit. Based on today’s event the cabins are pretty even because EVERYONE was encouraging each other and the other teams. It was awesome to see so much excitement without any pressure!

Lunch was grilled cheese and tomato soup and then we headed to a much needed rest time!

This afternoon was gorgeous sunny and a perfect day for being at camp! The art group was busy making nail art (hammering nails into a board into a design and then wrapping sting to make intricate designs) campfire cooking was making donuts over the fire (cinnamon sugary goodness!) and drama was getting their act ready for the talent show. Archery was aiming the dancers were dancing and canoers were canoeing! It was a busy day!

Dinner was beef stew and brownies!

Cabin free time after dinner gave cabins a chance to perfect their talent show acts skip rocks at the beach make some craft projects play soccer and relax after a long day. After that it was time to raise the roof in praise and worship- singing so loud you could probably hear us across the lake!

Our spirit was so great and our voices were warmed up so it made sense to head down to the Friendship Circle for a campfire! We sang tons of songs each cabin performed their cabin cheer we did the traditional CYC cheer and then we made some yummy s’mores!

It was a great day at camp!!

"To me, CYC is a place where I can really be myself and make new friends. At CYC, I feel safe and happy. The counselors at camp have inspired me. I feel closer to God since my experience at CYC." - Anna
