Sunday of Double Dare

Double Dare week is here! Campers arrived excited and ready to be at camp! The weather did NOT cooperate with us today and we had to move check in to Sweeney Lodge. Several parents commented that they’d never dropped off in the rain before. It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes Mother Nature doesn’t get the memo that we’ve got a lot to do outside! It’s a bummer when we can’t show parents around and enjoy the beauty of CYC, but the good news is, a little rain can’t slow us down! We sang songs and played games until everyone had checked in and then it was time for our exciting pepfest to introduce the CYC staff, and dividing into cabin groups. From there, campers grabbed their belongings and moved into their cabins. The rain was light, so we were able to get everything where it needed to be without getting drenched!

Dinner was pasta with chicken, broccoli, garlic bread, and rice krispie treats! Yum!

After dinner, cabin groups were assigned indoor spaces around camp, played “get to know ya” games and signed up for activities for the rest of the week. After that, it was time for the all-camp sing along! A great way to kick off the week!

Following the sing along, we headed to the chapel for Holy Ground and Praise and Worship. During Holy Ground, we discussed our first of the five Cs: courage. After Praise and Worship, our campers left the chapel and entered into cabin devotionals to end an exciting day before heading off to get ready for bed. We can’t wait for a full day of camp activities tomorrow! It is going to be the best week yet!

"To me, CYC is a place where I can really be myself and make new friends. At CYC, I feel safe and happy. The counselors at camp have inspired me. I feel closer to God since my experience at CYC." - Anna
