Work Crew are students who have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade and want to gain volunteer experience in a camp setting. Work Crew will be responsible for preparing meals, maintaining the camp grounds, assisting in set up/take down for programming, helping with the camp store, and other duties as necessary. Work Crew will ride the bus from our Roseville office to camp Monday mornings and leave camp on the bus Saturday mornings. Work Crew are not allowed to drive themselves to camp. See below for a sample schedule.
Work Crew will gain valuable volunteer experience while having fun at Catholic Youth Camp. Work Crew is the perfect opportunity for students to gain work experience, which will benefit them when applying to future jobs or college.
Work Crew will be expected to act in a professional manner at all times, being respectful of campers, staff and CYC visitors. Work Crew will be on time for all shifts, complete tasks as assigned and maintain a positive attitude. Work Crew are expected to be responsible, mature and act as role models for CYC campers. Work Crew are not allowed to leave camp during the week.
Work Crew can sign up for two week sessions in June and July, a three week session in August, or the whole summer! Work Crew is a volunteer position, with meals, lodging and transportation to and from camp provided by CYC. Work Crew will not be allowed to stay at camp during the weekends. The bus to camp leaves Monday mornings at 8am and will arrive to camp by 11am. The bus will leave camp on Saturday mornings at 12:00 and will arrive in Roseville at 3pm. If you are interested in signing up, please call CYC at 651-636-1645.
The following Work Crew Schedule is an example of a typical day, however, depending on the number of Work Crew and the needs of camp, work assignments could also include grounds maintenance (such as cutting grass, clearing paths, etc.), setting up program activities (hauling equipment, moving tables and chairs, etc.), or working at the camp store.
