LIT

July 7-19

August 4-16

LITs will spend the first week of their two-week stay developing their leadership skills, learning to lead camper activities and building their confidence through teambuilding and group development. During the second week, LITs will assist staff in leading camper groups and in program areas. Leaders-in-Training is a unique program that offers high school students the opportunity to experience camp from a different perspective, while building skills they will use throughout their lives.

Program Overview

LITs are students who have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade and are interested in learning what it is like to be a CYC staff. The LIT program will teach participants the skills needed to be a counselor as well as give them the chance to assist with a group of campers. LITs will also take part in teambuilding and leadership activities which are beneficial at camp and outside of camp. See below for a sample Leaders-in-Training schedule.

Objectives

LITs will develop leadership skills, including problem solving, communication and teamwork, as well as learning how to lead camper activities as a CYC staff.

Expectations

LITs will be expected to follow all camp rules as well as act as role models for the younger campers. LITs are expected to be responsible, mature and respectful of all campers and staff. LITs should be prepared to follow instructions with a positive attitude and an open mind.

Logistics

LITs is a two week program that runs from July 7-19 and August 4-16, 2008. The cost for the program is $100 plus a transportation fee of $35- one way or $65- round trip. The bus will pick up and drop off LITs at our Roseville office or parents can drop off/pick up at camp. LITs are not allowed to drive themselves to camp. Sign up now, as space is limited!
