General Info

LIVE YOUR FAITH ON THE SHORES OF BIG SANDY LAKE.

For 58 years campers have made CYC their summer home away from home. Within the small community of camp, individuals flourish, make life-long friends and become comfortable with their faith.

CYC's Mission

The mission of CYC is to provide a quality Catholic camping experience in an inclusive atmosphere of friendship, community and prayer.

At CYC, each camper experiences:

  • A deeper relationship with God through prayer and worship
  • Personal growth
  • A connection with counselors as positive role models of faith
  • An appreciation of God's gifts in nature

CYC is open to children and teens of all faiths.

CYC's facility is simple and charming . a wonderful escape from the pressures and distractions of the real world.

  • Campers and staff live together in cabins with central shower houses.
  • Nutritious meals are enjoyed in spacious Sweeney Lodge.
  • The Rec Hall, Art Barn and Tekakwitha Lodge are ideal for rainy day programs.
  • A nurse is always on duty at the Health Center.
  • Indian Point Lodge (built 1923) houses our indoor chapel and camp offices.
  • Our beach, dock and raft make swimming a favorite activity.
  • Our sheltered bay is ideal for campers learning to canoe.
  • Campers love a variety of sporting activities.
  • Magnificent sunsets conclude every day.

CATHOLIC YOUTH CAMP IS A "SAFE PLACE" FOR ALL.

We believe that children and teens need a place to be themselves, to reflect on their relationships with God and to form friendships based on faith.

OUR STAFF REALLY UNDERSTAND KIDS.

The staff is fantastic because they're fun, they care and they listen. They love to play and pray in the wonderful community of CYC. Counselors are trained in youth development, program skills and safety procedures to help them serve as excellent role models of faith.

Each staff member goes through a rigorous interview process including references and a criminal background check.

WE ARE GRATEFUL TO MONSIGNOR JOHN (Fr. Jack) SWEENEY.

In 1947, Father Jack founded Catholic Youth Camp to help young people achieve a healthy respect for and love of Catholic values. He encouraged an appreciation for God's great outdoors and embraced the theme of the North American Martyrs with a focus on the three virtues of Courage, Cooperation and Charity.
