The retreat was a success! We left on Friday and headed to CYC for a weekend of fun. We arrived at CYC around 4pm, started with some icebreakers (we love those at camp!), dinner and then we made a collage about caring. We rounded out the evening with some intense games of “Apples to Apples” and “Catchphrase”.
Saturday weather was PERFECT for outdoor fun. I twas sunny, warm and REALLY snowy. We headed to Sweeney hill for sledding. After sledding, we went inside for some cocoa and cider and did an activity where we had to write songs about “leaders at CYC” to the tune of a song on the radio. Afterwards, we had lunch, spent more time doing leadership activities about responsibility and self image, and then we headed out for more sledding.
Free time, Mass in McGreogor, and dinner were next. After dinner, we did an activity where we had to use toliet paper rolls to get a marble across the room. It was a challenge, but LITs are known for working well together and with some communication, teamwork, and patience, the goal was eventually accomplished. The evening saw moer rounds of cathphrase and a very fun games of spoons.
Sunday started with affirmations, cleanup and then some more games while we waited for lunch to be ready. Then it was time to leave camp, despite many prayers that a snow storm would force us to stay at camp for the rest of the winter.
The weekend was a fabulous time to return to camp, spend time with old friends and have fun!
The Leaders-in-Training are going on retreat this weekend!
12 LITs, 2 fabulous staff and one fat bulldog puppy will be boarding a school bus and heading to the frozen tundra that is CYC for a weekend of leadership development, outdoor fun, and soaking in the goodness of camp! We have been excited for this since the summer, and now it’s finally here!
